de Kleine  Wereld

Amidst the stunning landscape of the Onner-Es, the desire arose for a campsite that consciously breaks with the trend of upscaling and mass tourism. The ambition was to create a small-scale, authentic, and family-oriented place where the experience of peace and nature takes center stage. This called for architecture that serves rather than dominates; a design that blends modestly with the landscape.

The new, biobased restroom building is the physical embodiment of this vision and functions as a tranquil, central anchor point on the site. Designed as a link connecting the restaurant and swimming pool with the surrounding natural environment, all functions are efficiently combined under a single, clear, flat roof. This roof structure was prefabricated by the owners themselves, which suits the personal character of the project. The choice of a flat roof was also aesthetic: it completely conceals the solar panels, ensuring that the sustainable technology doesn’t disrupt the natural landscape.
